“YOUR WINDOW TO ADVENTURE”
The winter is going quickly. The holidays were full of activities here. From the holiday decorating party to the taking down of all the holiday decorations. We had pot luck dinners and a wonderful evening of music with the “On Call” band. New Year’s Eve was another fun night for everyone.

January seemed to go even more quickly. We welcomed another camp host couple to join us for a few months. The Wii bowling teams are having a great time each week, and they can be seen practicing at all hours of the day and night. There is always a puzzle in progress in the lounge and often you see arts and crafts being worked on. Sequence is a very popular card game for a lot of people and many nights out of the week you can hear the laughter and cheering from around the card tables. Movie Night continues to be popular. Of course the coffee is always on and the lounge is usually occupied by someone.

Jeeping is an ever popular activity for many people here. A few times a week there is a caravan of Jeeps heading out into the desert and mountains for an adventurous day.

Fishing on Elephant Butte Lake draws a lot of people as well. There are boat launches very nearby and we’re always happy to hear of the latest catch.

For those traveling with a GPS. Although a GPS can make life easier, sometimes it’s not always the case. Often we have guests who say that their GPS couldn’t find us. If you are in doubt or lost when you are on your way here, please don’t hesitate to call us. We’d be happy to guide you to Elephant Butte or discuss which the best route to take is.

Local Area News:

Sierra County — (as stated by our local paper the Sentinel) — The record crowds at Elephant Butte Lake were treated to inarguably the best fireworks show in the 17 years that StarFire Pyrotechnics has been producing the July 4 display at the state park. Beginning with what many thought was the grand finalé, the show continued for another 20 minutes with fantastic aerials and booming concussion bursts. The actual finalé was an impressive spectacle that certainly rivaled any in the state.

Elephant Butte Lake — is a hot spot in spring and summer for fisherman and water sport enthusiasts. Elephant Butte Lake has become one of the biggest fishing and recreational attractions in New Mexico. The lake provides a setting for every imaginable water sport and the mild climate of the area makes this lake a popular year-round destination for people all over the United States.

As always if you’re planning a visit to our area for a weekend or a season please contact us for your reservations as we do fill up fast.

We look forward to seeing our returning Guests to Lakeside.
